Measurement Solutions for Automotive Interior Lighting

Accurate and Traceable Solutions for the Specification and Testing of Interior Lighting Assemblies

Measure Automotive Interior Lighting

Control of functional and decorative lighting of automobile interior

The interior of a modern automobile is a core component in customer experience and perceived value. Now more than ever it is also an expression of the brand, its character and, therefore, by extension its owner. Modern lighting technologies give the manufacturer a myriad of options for both functional and effect lighting. Each element must be specified and controlled, and for each additional option or level of user customisation, the challenges of specification, measurement, and control for undesired interactions increase.

Konica Minolta Measuring Instruments and group company Radiant Vision Systems produce a range of solutions for measuring lighting and lighting assemblies in development or production environments to ensure that the lighting contributes to delivering a high quality interior environment in harmony with interior materials. Solutions will ensure control of brightness, uniformity and colour of interior lighting assemblies including reading lights, footwell lighting, accent lighting and more.

Traceable and trusted solutions for digital luminance data can greatly expedite the process of development, production, and QC testing. Our expert teams can help to implement a system that allows all parties, from equipment manufacturer through to QC, to work in a more streamlined and consistent way.

Experience shows that a data driven approach allows supply chains to build relationships based on quality and consistency, reducing subjectivity, and simplifying specification and approval.

Offering customers a global network of sales, support and expertise, Konica Minolta can deliver tested solutions to customers in the automotive industry. Our network of authorised service facilities provide ongoing maintenance and calibration of devices to minimise downtime and ensure that systems remain traceable throughout their working life.

A measurement solution from the Konica Minolta Group can ensure that you deliver a high quality interior environment in harmony with interior materials by controlling the brightness, uniformity, and colour of interior lighting assemblies including reading lights, footwell lighting, accent lighting, and more.

Benefits

  • Improve certainty of production process, minimising rework, and maximising final finish quality.
  • Reduce costs throughout the production process by measuring and optimising each step in the process.
  • Improve consistency, set realistic and achievable expectations by benchmarking your own and competitor finishes.

Instruments

Instruments

CM-36dG Benchtop Spectrophotometer

The optimum solution for the best possible accuracy and versatility for raw material and finished product measurements. The benchtop spectrophotometer is ideal when data will or may eventually be used for colour formulation.

CM-26d Portable Spectrophotometer

Modern portable spectrophotometer for colour measurement of solid samples such as dried product on test cards. It features Konica Minolta's most user-friendly user interface and correlates closely with the CM-36dG when used within the supply chain.

CM-700d Portable Spectrophotometer

Portable instrument with vertical alignment that allows for precise positioning of measurement aperture and minimal contact to the subject. Measure with a 3mm or 8mm aperture and transfer data via Bluetooth to colour data software.

SpectraMagic NX Software

SpectraMagic NX is a colour measurement software package that can be used to interface with Konica Minolta instruments. It provides extended reporting and analysis of colour and colour difference. The user has full control of customisation of templates and reports.

Colibri® Platform

Quality control and colour formulation software, Colibri® is a colour management and matching solution scalable from one site to a global supply chain, whilst maintaining strict control and data ownership.

Applications

Applications

Colour measurement of colour matched wood fillers

A CM-36dG and the Colibri® platform can be used to build a database of wood shades based on averaging measurements. The colour data generated can be used to formulate a range of wood filler products in both matching and contrasting colours. By setting tolerances from production samples, the Colibri® system can also be used over time for quality control measurements out of production.

Portable Spectrophotometers CM-700d / CM-600d, ideal for colour measurement of solid samples

Measurement of Grout in Production

By taking a sample from production at specified intervals and applying it to a draw down card, the sample can be quickly and easily measured against the target colour data to check that production is within tolerance. The minimal contact of the portable spectrophotometer CM-700d will provide useful data whilst also easier to clean up as only the aperture plate need be in contact with the sample.

Matching and Measurement for Industrial Customers

Digital colour data represents an opportunity working in the supply chain for items such as front doors, windows, and other furniture. By formulating colour to specification, agreeing processes, tolerances and communicating colour in a clear and transparent way, a provider of sealants and adhesives can work collaboratively and offer a service alongside products to reduce subjective disagreements, deepen the supply chain relationship and add value.
