Colour Measurement for Garments and Furnishings

Easy to use digital colour data solutions for the textile supply chain

Textiles used for Clothing and Furnishing are typically considered to be colour critical, they are bought based on their visual appearance. The garment and furnishing manufacturers want all products in retail to remain consistent and relevant to the demands of the consumer, without metamerism or inconstant colours which will reflect badly on the brand.

A textile business, with the ability to accurately produce the specified colour in the specified material and do so consistently, can clearly demonstrate its quality and value as a supplier.

Konica Minolta Measuring Instruments offer a comprehensive range of solutions for the textile industry to accurately measure colour data, either for specification to suppliers, approval with customers, development, or product QC. By implementing digital colour data, organisations can implement data driven process and quality control processes that will improve quality and consistency whilst reducing costs and waste.
Digital colour data can be used to expedite the supply process, greatly improving a textile manufacturers ability to react to the market by reducing the risks and costs associated with producing, distributing, and maintaining physical standards. By collaborating with supply partners, using accurate and traceable instruments and tested processes and systems, relationships can be strengthened based on quality, consistency, and communication.

The colour of textiles can be measured using a benchtop spectrophotometer, this will allow the user to understand the impact of processes on the final colour and to perform colour QC. A benchtop like the CM-36dG can measure reflectance colour in 4 different sample sizes from 4-25.4 mm with control over UV for characterising OBAs. It has several innovative features that benefit textile producers, including a built-in sample viewer camera that allows the operator to accurately measure patterned samples.

The CM-26dG is a portable alternative for the textile industry, with UV control, our best ever user interface and created as a close tolerance instrument as standard to allow supply chains to maximise the benefit of digital colour data.

Instruments

CM-36dG Benchtop Spectrophotometer

Benchtop spectrophotometer CM-36dG measures colour and gloss together, which streamlines your quality control workflow, reduces operator errors, and saves on equipment and maintenance costs. Thanks to our latest innovative feature “Wavelength Analysis and Adjustment”, our customers have the possibility to check and adjust the CM-36dG device during calibration to assure the instrument is in perfect condition.

CM-26dG Portable Spectrophotometer

The CM-26dG portable spectrophotometer offers unprecedented accuracy and inter-instrument agreement. This precision allows superior colour communication throughout the supply chain. It also provides great flexibility of use with two easily interchangeable measurement apertures, and delivers SPIN and SPEX measurement data simultaneously. In addition, it has integrated an ISO 2813 compliant 60° gloss sensor.

CM-M6 Multi-angle Spectrophotometer

Portable multi-angle spectrophotometer with 6 angles and double-path system. The CM-M6 is a especially designed for colour measurement of metallic and effect paints.

CM-700d Portable Spectrophotometer

Portable instrument with vertical alignment that allows for precise positioning of measurement aperture and minimal contact to the subject. Measure with a 3mm or 8mm aperture and transfer data via Bluetooth to colour data software.

Rhopoint TAMS

Portable machine vision system for surfaces to inspect surfaces throughout the coating process, from surface preparation, primer, coats, and finishing

Rhopoint IQ-S Close-Tolerance Glossmeter

Trigloss 20/60/85° close-tolerance IQ version for maximum accuracy and resolution in all gloss applications. This new generation glossmeter also provides data for Rspec, DOI, and Haze.

Colibri® Platform

Colibri® is a colour control and colour matching solution that helps to specify, manage, formulate, produce, and communicate colour throughout all stages of the supply chain. Thanks to this software platform, users have fast, secure, and managed access to shared data from a central database, and benefit from improved colour communication and shorten time to market, while increasing product quality.

Applications

Applications

Measurement of Industrial Paints

A modern digital colour data system can help an organisation to measure and specify the colour and appearance of paints onsite with customers, and maintain digital standards, recipes, approval processes and quality control records. Our experienced teams can help you to design and implement a solution, and ensure that it remains accurate and traceable.

Measurement of Colour on Painted objects

The appearance of painted objects can be easily measured on-site with our portable spectrophotometer, multiangle CM-M6 and handheld CM-700d.

The measuring instruments are used for colour management of in-house products, pass / fail judgment evaluation of specified colors from customers, and QC control.

Visual Assessment of Paint with a Light Booth

The objective of colour measurement is to manfucature products that are visually appealing and cohesive to the human observer. Therefore, visual assessment will always be a part of the colour production process. Instruments allow organisations to report and communicate traceable colour data, accurately and without subjectivity, but the product still needs to be approved by a customer's eye. Rely on one of our light cabinets and evaluate colours under controlled lighting conditions.

Colour Communication through the whole Supply Chain

The Colibri® software platform helps to specify, manage, formulate, produce, and communicate colour throughout all stages of the supply chain. With Colibri®, users can have fast, secure, and managed access to shared data from a central database, and benefit from improved colour communication and shorten time to market, while increasing product quality.
